GLASS PAINTING

Glass painting is a contemporary art which has been derived from the age old art of stained glass painting which involves putting smaller colored pieces of glass together. It was a common feature in high windows and doors etc in the olden times and can still be seen in churches and old buildings. We had these types of glasses at my Grandmother’s house.  These days glass painting is becoming a popular feature and catching up as a hobby due to its awesome results and easy availability of glass painting equipment.

At home glass paintings can be as wall hangings, wine glasses painting, on windows, acrylic sheets, cups, mugs, tiles, mirrors etc. If you are interested in glass painting and want to try it, go ahead and experience the joy! All you need is a glass piece, sheet of paper, glass paints, an outliner, a design, silver foil or colorful paper (if required) and some amount of patience. J

Materials:

• Rectangular or Square Glass piece
• Glass Liner
• Glass paints
• Thinner
• Glue
• Aluminum foil or Colored papers
• Boldly traced designs/ drawings

Method:

• First place the drawing on the table and then place the plain glass above the drawing, so that the drawing/picture is clearly seen through the glass.

 

• Make the outline of the trace on the glass with glass liner. Allow it to dry.

 

• Before you start painting on the glass tests your shades on some rough glass. You can wipe it off with thinner.
• The color choice should be perfect because the stained glass paint gets dried up fast and the correction cannot be done easily.
•  While painting, the color blending should be done quickly and carefully. 
• When the whole painting and the border gets dried, remove the trace.

• From the back side of the glass painting paste a colorful paper sheet or crushed aluminum foil.

• Now your glass painting is ready. You can get it framed.

Tip: Once the painting has dried see it against a source of light. This will tell you the portions where the paint is less or thin. If required, do another coating of paint on it.

Materials Required:

CD Glass paints Glass Liner Decorative kundan Decorative beads Aluminum Foil Satin ribbon or decorative threads

Method :

Waste CD’s can be painted with glass colors with your own patterns and designs.

• Take a CD with shinny surface facing up.

 

• Draw the outline of the drawing you want to make on the CD by the glass liner. Allow it to dry. 

 

• Paint the CD with glass paints of your choice.

 

• Cover the back side of CD by Aluminum foil.
•  Decorate it with kundan and beads.

• Prepare 3 CD'sand paste one by one on a satin ribbon or colorful thread.
• 
  

 

• It can be either hanged on the wall or decorated CD’s can be hanged in the car.

I saw lot of waste CD’s in my home so thought of doing something with that so I painted the CD’s with glass liner and glass paints.

Method :

• Paint the CD with glass paints of your choice.

• Cover the back side of CD by Aluminum foil

 

• Decorate it with colorful beads and buttons and tiklis.

• It can be used as rangoli in front of god or can be used as floating rangoli in living room center table or on dinning table or rangoli to be arranged around the lunch plate on the special occasions as shown below:

Material:

• Decorative Beads
• Elastic
• Needle

Method:

1. Select two or more colors of faceted beads.
2. String beads on the elastic alternating with different color and shapes beads if you want to mix match with the outfit color you wear.
3. Continue until you have a long enough string to fit around your wrist.
4. Tie off with a double knot.
5. Trim close to knot.

POT PAINTING

POT PAINTING 

As the name suggests, it is a hobby in which a person decorates clay pots and vases in various ways. It is a very interesting and creative. One does not even need to learn it from any one nor are there any hard and fast rules to be followed.

Materials Required:

• Ceramic powder
• Earthen pot
• Fevicol
• Fevicryl metallic colors
• Brush

Method:

1. Take some ceramic powder and mix it with fevicol in a bowl till you get a mixture with loose consistency (like a cake batter)
2. Apply it around the pot as shown below:

 

1. Allow it to dry.
2. Finally paint it with fevicryl metallic colors of your choice.

   
   Your pots are ready. J

This is an easy way of decorating an earthen pot. I had taken 3 pots of different size in 1 set and 3 pots of same size in other set J

TIPS:You can decorate them with beautiful lace, bells, colorful tiklis :)

Terra cotta pots are a must have for gardeners during the planting season. The lovely simplicity, as well as the fairly inexpensive price makes the terra cotta type pot very popular among those who love to fill their homes with the vibrant beauty and energy of flowers and plants during all seasons.

This post will offer ways on how terra cotta pots can enjoy a new purpose and be used to create fun and for both inside and outside the home.

Material:

• Terra Cotta Pot (any shape of your choice)

I have taken a Pipe shape long length pot to decorate as i wanted to fill in one corner of my house with it completely :) 

• Oil paint (any color of your Choice)
• Fresh or Artificial plants for decorating the pot
• Brush
• Thinner

Method:

1. Paint the pot with the oil paint. I have taken silver color for base. Allow it to dry completely.
2. Then you can decorate your pot as below:

  

• You can decorate the pot with bids/ ceramic /lace / artificial flowers/ cloth flowers etc..

TIP S:

• Prepare the Pottery: Before you begin painting, take a sponge and get it only slightly damp with clean water wipe off your pottery to remove large dust particles because these can cause the colored glaze to pull away from the pottery. Be sure that your pottery does not get too wet because soaked-in water will keep the colored glazes from adhering. 

   

•   Paint with Multiple Coats: For a solid, even coat of color, apply 2 to 3 coats of the colored glaze. After applying the first coat allow the glaze to fully dry (it air dries reasonably quickly, but you may use a hair dryer to speed up the process) before applying the next coat.

Engagement ceremony is almost celebrated in the same manner in almost all the religions except for certain variations according to their community and family rituals. The family and relative of bride and groom gather to celebrate the first formal party of the forth coming wedding ceremony. A formal ring ceremony is done to solemnize the engagement ceremony.

Engagement is an important ceremony, as it marks the beginning of the relationship not only between two individuals, but also between also two families. Different kinds of decorations can be seen in different parties, depending on the budget and the chosen theme. However, flowers and artifacts find a special place among the decorations used for the engagement parties, irrespective of the theme. The colorful decorations set the perfect ambience for celebrations and boosts up the party spirits within everybody. Different Kinds of Engagement Ceremonies in India

• In Gujarati customs, the engagement function is called Sagaai. In a Sagaai, the bride's family arrives with ‘Matli', a steel container full of sweets and gifts for the groom and his family.

• In Christians, the engagement ceremony is very much like a social gathering and formal announcement of marriage where the would-be groom and bride exchange engagement rings.

• In most of the North Indian states, the ceremony is held as soon as the marriage details are finalized. Along with the ring ceremony, the ritual of ‘Tilak' i.e. greeting the groom with auspicious vermilion paste and rice is performed by bride's brother. Then the exchange of baskets of fruits, dry fruits and sweets takes place between both the families. The bride is also gifted with some traditional family Jewelry from the groom's parents.

• In the South Indian families, the engagement ceremony is quite different from those of North Indian families; you will be surprised to know that the presence of the groom and bride is not compulsory on the engagement function. The engagement ceremony in South India is more like a commitment between both the families of the would-be bride and groom. The most important ritual in the south Indian engagement function is the exchange of 'tattu' i.e. 'engagement plate' which consists of coconut, flowers, turmeric, beetle nuts and beetle leaves.
